NEW at Mortimer: Cambridge Young Learners English Tests for Children

We are now able to prepare your children for the Cambridge Young Learners English Tests! This is the famous University of Cambridge test procedure which has been specifically designed for children. It gives children the opportunity to take an English test in a stress-free environment. The test is internationally-recognised and complies with standardised guidelines.

The Cambridge Young Learners English Tests (YLE)

  • are suitable for children aged 7 years and upwards.
  • take place in a stress-free environment near where the child lives.
  • it is not possible to fail the test as students are evaluated on their
    level of English rather than their test performance.
  • provide each child with a certificate from Cambridge University, so your child is
    guaranteed to feel a  sense of achievement.
  • remove the fear of examinations from your children at an early stage, while motivating them to further develop their English skills.

The YLE tests are offered at three different levels (“Starters”, “Movers” and “Flyers”) and evaluate the following four language skills:

  1. Listening comprehension
  2. Verbal expression
  3. Reading comprehension
  4. Written expression
Emphasis is placed on non-writing skills and therefore corresponds with the learning objectives which we pursue at Mortimer English Club.
